Early trends from the 2024 Indian general election show that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in nearly 300 seats.

Most exit polls had suggested a comfortable win for Mr. Modi's party, but the actual results are still being awaited. The counting of votes is currently underway.

Mr. Modi had set a high bar for success heading into the election, predicting that his party would win more than 300 seats. If the BJP-led alliance falls short of this target, it could be seen as a setback for Mr. Modi.
